A lot of people tell me "oh you are vegan? but we were born to eat meat!!"

ummm not REALLY. We are not really born eating meat, because if you give a baby a grape and a rabbit, he will put the grape in his mouth, but he will not naturally try to eat the rabbit. We are taught to eat meat. And yes, humans can digest animal products, but just because we can eat something and possibly digest it, it doesn’t mean we should. There are a lot of things that we can do as humans. We can smoke cigarettes, but we know they are terrible for us. We have access to drugs, but that doesn’t mean we should hand them out at teenage parties. Because we have a fist to punch, should we punch our neighbors? The reality is that it is unnecessary to harm animals when there are alternatives. We can also live a long and healthier life without eating any animal products whatsoever. Let’s go back to our biological structure now. Who are we more like? A lion or a gorilla? We are actually most like our herbivore friends with very long intestines, carbohydrate digestive enzymes in our mouth, short and blunted teeth (with apple crunching “canines”), and jaws that open sideways for chewing vegetables, not up and down for biting into flesh.
